Taskovski Picks Up Iranian Documentary ‘MAYDEGOL’
Ahead of Berlinale Premiere

We proudly announce that Taskovski Films has just acquired ‘Maydegol,’ an amazing Iranian documentary capturing the journey of a determined teenage girl in Iran on her quest to become a Muay Thai boxer.

Directed by Sarvnaz Alambeigi, this heartwarming story dives into family traditions, showcasing resilience, and standing up for the rights of girls everywhere. Against all odds, our heroine secretly funds her Thai boxing classes, navigating challenges like family expectations and anti-immigrant feelings.

Alambeigi said: “‘Maydegol’ embodies the harsh reality of marginalized women seeking a better life abroad.” Irena Taskovski, CEO and head of sales at Taskovski Films, added: “The film is a poignant portrayal of immigration realities, championing the fight for women’s rights globally.”

‘Maydegol’ sheds light on the real struggles faced by girls seeking a brighter future in a new land. Produced by Alambeigi in Germany and Katayoon Shahabi in France, ‘Maydegol’ is already making waves, earning accolades like the Saxon Award for Best Documentary Project by a Female Director at DOK Leipzig 2021. Alambeigi, known for her impactful works like ‘Cypher and Lion’ and ‘1001 Nights Apart,’ is making her mark in the world of documentary filmmaking.
