It has been a wonderful weekend for three films in the Taskovski Films catalogue!

Knutte Wester’s A Bastard Child  and Mariam Chachia’s Listen to the Silence both won at the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece.

And Carol Salter’s Almost Heaven won big at the British Independent Film Awards.

The Kids and Docs Jury at the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece awarded the Best Feature Documentary to Listen to the Silence.

The jury stated: ‘For a very compassionate observation of a disabled child with amazing talents. The film incorporates various cinematic elements to express a delicate subject.’

A Bastard Child received a special mention from the jury:

‘For a personal approach to important political issues, such as women’s and child’s rights. The creative use of cartoons in the hand is excellent and gives the film a unique aesthetic approach.’

In the United Kingdom, Carol Salter’s Almost Heaven walked away with top honours at the 2017 British Independent Film Academy Awards.
Salter’s film,  a touching observational documentary about finding life in the middle of death, won the Best Documentary award.
