Taskovski Films are very happy to announce that we have picked up Licu, A Romanian Story directed by Ana Dimitrescu and produced by Romanian Company Jules et Films.

Licu, a Romanian story, is the life of a man. A 92-year-old man having outlived major historical events such as war, peace, communism, the revolution and post-revolution. He has suffered, loved, laughed and cried. It is a movie about the passing of time and old age. A reflection on our own condition and ephemerality.

The fim won the Golden Dove at the 2017 DOK Leipzig Film Festival where the jury said the following in a statement:

The award is given to a filmmaker with exceptional humanity, patience and an eye for detail. In a humble house, there is a very old man sitting and telling us not only his story but the story of 2 centuries. To make this possible in a film is a very difficult task which requires love for your character and an exceptional cinematic eye. In these days when the only thing that counts is viewing figures a filmmaker with almost no budget dares to say I will do it in another way. This way goes directly to our hearts, creating a filmic journey which lasts only 86 minutes but for us it is a life lesson.

We can’t wait to bring this film to more festivals and share Licu’s story with the world!
