Synopsis

The Devil’s Trap is a feature length documentary that takes audiences on an intimate road trip across North America with Lane as our guide a 25 year old member of the Navy and ex-cult member–as he attempts to re-unite with his estranged family, who ex-communicated him when he was 18 years old. Lane was born into a cult called the Exclusive Brethren, a protestant fundamentalist group that believes everything outside of their community is evil. Lane travels across the United States and Canada to make sense of his dark and tumultuous childhood and to prepare for an upcoming reconciliation with his family.
